There was a problem with the download station resulting in the finish times being incorrect. This has been corrected but the numbers appearing here may not match those given to you at the finish. Expect to see some weird splits around the control you skipped, this is normal with this type of event.

Welcome to the return of the Determinator Series!
The Determinator is a series of 5 orienteering races taking place over 5 weeks on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Each race is a short sprint style course where you have to collect controls in order as fast as possible. We will be using the GOAT Format which means everyone can start at the same time, and following is allowed if you can keep up with the fastest runners. Strategically, you are allowed to skip any one control of your choosing. Prefer not to be in middle of the exciting scramble at the start? Individual starts are still allowed within 10 minutes either before or after the 7 pm mass start.
When: Wednesday May 13th 2026 - Maps distributed at 645pm. Mass start at 7pm.
Where: Camosun Lansdown Campus, parking lot off Foul Bay Rd Follow the signs to registration/start. See map below.
Parking: Parking Lot accessed off Foul Bay Rd (see map below)
Courses: There will be two courses offered:
- Determinator Course - km intended for those with some experience - Classic Goat Format - Skip any one control of your choosing!
- Novice - Easy Course -km intended for those brand new to orienteering.
Cost: $15 for adults, $5 for juniors (under 13)
What to Bring: Wear light clothes suitable for running. Any decent running shoes or trail runners. No leg covering needed for this event. Compass is optional for urban terrain, but will be needed for events in forest areas.
Registration: Register online at https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=41918
IMPORTANT: Each upcoming Determinator will rank participants based on their performance at the previous events using a handicap system. Results and handicaps will be posted after the first event. This system gives a chance for everyone to compete against each other no matter their experience or speed as the handicap system creates a great equalizer.
See you out there!
