Event Description

Welcome to the LINE-O!

This is a slightly different type of orienteering event. All participants are given a map (same type of map as usual), except there are NO CONTROLS. Eeek! Yep. Instead of numbered control locations, there is a line drawn along a very specific route. All along this route, you will come across the standard controls (with SI dibber stations). The goal is to follow the 'market route exactly' and retrieve all of the controls IN ORDER until you reach the finish. Be careful to pay close attention to the control #'s as you might skip one or 2 and not realize it!

Simple, really. Follow the marked trail, find the controls in order (which aren't shown on the map). It sounds easy, but it's a nest of trails up in the Partridge Hills so you'll need to keep your wits about you. :)

Please email Jade @ ravenhighway@gmail.com with any questions!

There will be 2 courses. The long course will have some trickly, little twists and turns and will run about 6k. The Short Course will be less difficult and travel around 3K.

DRESS WARM. Make sure to dress warm, as it's getting cold. It might be sprinkling and there are certainly wet sections of trail. Your TOMS won't do much good out here. :)

Cost:$5 for Junior participants, $8 for Adults. This event will include SportIdent Timing. SI Sticks will be available for rent for $2.

Locations & Registration: 11:30 at the Durrance Lake Beach. Start and finish will be here.

Parking: Note that there is a very small parking lot at Durrance Lake. You might need to part on Willis Point road, just before the right hand turn onto Durrance Road.

Staggered Start: 12:30 pm, but we might start runners earlier depending on the general state of preparedness.

Course Closure: 3:30 pm (remember it gets dark early)
