Camp Thunderbird Score Orienteering Event

Thanks to all who made it out to this event on what turned out to be a beautiful sunny day for orienteering. As usual Camp Thunderbird and it's 1000 acres provided a challenging orienteering setting. This year's event featured 32 controls making it nearly impossible to reach all the controls in the 3 hour time limit. Scott Sheldrake and Larry Gagnon however got very close to getting them all and both scored 630 points out of a possible 700 points for the course, with Scott edging out Larry for the win with a slightly faster run time of just over a minute. It was also a very close race for 3rd place with Tobi Gardner and Ben Isitt each scoring 550 points but Tobi edging out Ben on time and penalty.

Many thanks to Leigh Bailey and Scott Sheldrake for running the SI for this event and many thanks to Gill Bailey, Linda Hildebrandt , Marie Burgess, and Scott for their help picking up controls.

Regular results and splits can be found below. The splits won't make a lot of sense from the time point of view but will let you see what routes other people took

Happy Orienteering

John
