Partridge Hills Nav Run
September 7th 2014 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Organizer: Roger MacLeod (Event Director)
Partridge Hills Adventure Run
Post Race comments: Congratulations go to Sandra Hardy for winning the advanced course. A fantastic run meant she finished the race in just less than 45 minutes, narrowly beating out Andrew Knowlton. Both of whom posted faster times than the winning times on the other courses despite being longer and with more controls. Congratulations also go to Brad Curry for winning the intermediate course by closely staying in touch with the map through Partridge maze of trails..
A big thank you goes out to Linda, Sasha, Zara, Kristen, Richard, Jade, and Sandra for their help during and after the event. The event would not have been possible without it.
Details: This event promises to be an adventure that will appeal to both regular club members and the general public. There are three courses designed for a range of experience and levels of challenge; those new to orienteering and those looking for either a physical or navigation challenge. A specific effort has been made to make each course interesting by offering more than one possible route on each leg. The route you choose will dictate your overall time. All courses are much shorter (30% less) with less elevation gain than last year's event.
Location:
Registration: 12:30 - 1 PM.
Starts: 1:00 - 1:40 pm. Staggered starts (not mass start)
Time Limit (control pick-up time): 3:15 pm
Format: Adventure Run/walk which is to say that it will be like a traditional orienteering course except that you are required to stay on trail at all times; it will be faster to do so anyways.
Course 3: 3.8 km 16 controls Longest (EWT: 50 mins)
Course 2: 3.1 km 10 controls Shorter but the same navigation challenges
Course 1: 2.4 km 6 controls Shortest, basic navigation, and the least elevation gain.
