Details: The event will be a sprint B-level competition event with three courses available to suit orienteers of various experience and abilities. Beginner orienteers are always welcome. Courses have been specifically designed to accommodate a wide range of competitors and the event is open to all members of the public. This a good event for those new to orienteering as the UVIC map contains several obvious features to relate to on the map in the unlikely event that you get lost. Advanced orienteers will enjoy the challenge of the maze like legs of their course. Courses offered will be as follows:

  • Course 1 (Beginner) approx 1.7 km - all control flags will be in an urban environment on very prominent objects.
  • Course 2 (Intermediate) approx 3.0 km - This is a fast course as all controls are in an urban setting with little to no elevation changes. Lots of route choices.
  • Course 3 (Advanced) approx 3.7 km - the most controls with lots of route choices. Like the intermediate course this is a fast course as almost all controls are in an urban setting with little to no elevation changes.

Cost: $5 for Junior participants $8 for Adults. This event will include SportIdent Timing. SI Sticks will be available for rent for $2.

Registration: Between 1230 - 1300 hrs, at the southeast corner of parking lot 1. This is behind the Glover Greenhouses off Ring Road. See the map below. There are Orienteering arrows on Ring Road directing you to the correct parking lot.
