Post-Event Summary

A big thank you to all who came out to participate at Royal Roads. 49 registered competitors and upwards of 70 total avid participants and ideal weather conditions made for a great event! Congratulations to all of the newcomers who came out and to their success in finding the controls locations, how ever many you found.  We hope to see you again!

The course featured 30 controls across the beautiful Royal Roads campus. The overall winner was Brett Carter, who visited all controls and was under the 90 minute time limit, a excellent day with the map. The top female competitor was Sandra Hardy with a total score of 300 points, another excellent event for Sandra. Congratulations to Sandra and Brett for your skilled efforts.

Thanks to Leigh Bailey for his help organizing the maps and running the computer during the event and thanks to Jade for the massive promotion of the event. Thanks to Scott, John, and Larry for helping out at registration and to several of the club's more experienced orienteers who helped out the newcomers with a quick "how to" session before hand. Finally, thanks to the volunteer's who helped with control point pick up afterwards. Collectively, your contributions make the event a success.

Results posted below reflect the total score for each registered competitor, that is, the score reflects control points minus any time penalty.

Event Description

This will be a Score-O event at Royal Roads. Choose your own route and visit as many controls as you can within the 90 minute time limit.

Those new to orienteering are always welcome. If you need instructions on the map and compass work, please try to arrive early. This is a great format for those new to orienteering because you choose your own route and go at your own pace; more experienced orienteers will have many strategic choices to make in order to maximize point totals.

Controls will be given a point value, highest score (while still under the time limit) will win. Point deductions will be 5 points/1 minute over time.

To ensure we have sufficient maps, please register (to the right) if you are coming.

Cost:$5 for Junior participants, $8 for Adults. This event will include SportIdent Timing. SI Sticks will be available for rent for $2.

Registration: At the upper parking lot near the tennis courts on Royal Roads University campus. Look for large start/finish flags, registration starts at 12:30 pm.

Mass start: 1:00 pm and time limit of 90 minutes.

Course Closure: 2:30 pm
